Description: Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time Project Civil Engineer with 5+ years of experience to work out of our Portland or Vancouver offices. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in civil site design, water resources, and/or municipal engineering. The candidate should have a general interest in land use development and brownfield redevelopment. As project engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of project execution, including design, permitting, specifications, quantity calculations, oversight, report and proposal writing, project management, and cost estimating.

As a Project Civil Engineer, you will...

  • Prepare engineering designs and complete related permitting and specifications
  • Support bidding/contract solicitation
  • Assist on construction oversight/management/support including field work, quality control, quantity calculations and review of payment applications
  • Prepare reports and proposals.
  • Manage projects and support management of larger projects including developing and implementing scopes, schedules, and budgets for project work.
  • Complete detailed quality control review of work prepared by others.
  • Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies and participating in discussions and negotiations.
  • Both lead and work with project teams to complete the project work.
  • Work independently, solicit input from mentors and provide mentoring support to others.


What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Current PE certification with the ability to obtain licensure by comity in Oregon, Washington and Idaho within 3 months
  • Experience in site development including grading and infrastructure design and construction oversight
  • Water resources and stormwater system design work including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • Ability to effectively work as a project manager within a team, managing scope, schedule, budget, project delivery and communications with the client
  • Sound technical capabilities and organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD design software, specifically Civil 3D
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting and traversing rough terrain
