Senior Stormwater Engineer - Seattle, WA

Maul Foster Alongi (MFA) is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to work in our Seattle, Washington office. The ideal candidate will have an interest and experience with stormwater requirements and designs. Extensive knowledge of stormwater monitoring, training, and inspection requirements is necessary. You will manage projects that involve hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic modeling; engineering reports; stormwater plans; effluent mixing studies; source control evaluations; recontamination evaluations; construction and permitting documents; as well as strategic recommendations and cost analyses. You will also serve as a resource in hydrology and hydraulic modeling and design, and development of erosion and sediment controls for a diverse range of projects, including utility designs, site development work, remediation systems, and natural resource restoration and mitigation.

As a Senior Engineer, you will...

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct or coordinate work for both simple and complex projects. Act as the primary interface with clients and regulatory agencies and are able to lead complex or sensitive discussions and negotiations.
  • Lead project teams comprised of multiple disciplines to complete the project work.
  • Develop scopes, schedules, and budgets for project work.
  • Complete detailed quality control review of work prepared by others and provide expert technical consultation services to project teams, agencies, and clients.
  • Support and participate in marketing and business development initiatives. Leading marketing efforts, including research meetings with clients and prospective clients, proposals, and presentations.
  • Assist in identifying project opportunities, developing proposals, and developing and maintaining client and community relationships
  • Serve as a technical specialist and conceive, plan, and conduct research and/or analysis in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity

To thrive in this role, you must have...

  • 8+ years relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • PE license in Washington or ability to obtain
  • Ability to work comfortably as a project manager within a team environment
  • Excellent writing, communication, and quality assurance skills
  • Interest in supporting marketing and business development tasks and initiatives
  • Experience designing low impact development facilities and green stormwater infrastructure
  • Familiarity with the Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington
  • Ability to perform physical duties including, but not limited to, lifting; communicating with clients, public and teammates; working at a computer/desk for extended periods; operating office equipment; and handling stressful situations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D and HydroCAD
  • HEC-RAS modeling and other similar hydraulic models
  • SWMM analyses
  • 40-hour hazardous waste operation training
